It’s international year of the potato. This means there is a potato-photography contest! Amateurs can win $2000 and camera and professionals $4000 and camera. The deadline is September 1. Lets make sure a picture taken with a manual lens wins!

The other day I went in to town and tried some streetphoto. I’m not very good at photograph strangers like that, and didn’t wan’t to much attention. Therefore the little modest, functional and quite cool Minolta Hi-Matic F I got from my in-laws came really handy. Small, easy focus, some autmatic exposure, fits in one hand. Nice… I took a couple of rolls Kodak Tri-X (black and white) with this, will show results when back from lab.
A Zeiss-lens, extension-rings and shipping for about 25$? No it’s not a fairytale, I actually got this bargain from swedish ebay Tradera. It all started when I saw an ad with unknown lens marked “aus Jena”…
My purchase
I could not believe my luck. Was I the only one connecting the mark “aus Jena” to Carl Zeiss? Actually, someone else competed with me about the final bid, but I still got this 135mm lens for only 140 swedish kronor (about 20$). When it arrived in the mail, I put it to good use immediately!
I found some funny commercials on Youtube the other day! The first Praktica-commercial is priceless, when the german, harsh voice tries to sound sexy when showing nude photography :D

This will be a site for people who appriciate old cameras and lenses, even in combination with the digital cameras. My name is Mattias Wirf and I will be one of the writers here. The former site on www.retrofoto.se was in swedish, but I soon realized the interest in Sweden was not enough to sustain the site. Therefore this new site is in the making.
In the next few days new layout and functions and translated lenstests will be added. Welcome!
