Do you remember the project I wrote about – Something new from DIYPhotography? You swap gear temporarily with a photobuddy. It’s ten days left on the deadline. If you live in the city, I think you should give it a try. Here are some ideas on how to do it.

I’m trying myself, but we’ll see if I make it in time. I need to go on a photowalk with Susanne (if she want’s to? :) ), shoot a roll of film, develop it, write about it…

On DIYPhotography.net a new projects has started, where you pair up with a friend and temporarily exchange a piece of gear and then write a review about it. I will try to participate, I like these kinds of projects – it reminds me of the previous $50-dollar film camera project arranged by EpicEdit which was very fun :)

Something New

One thing that comes to mind, would anyone be interested in a long term group where we send cheap M42-lenses round to eachother for testing? I guess it would have to be a closed group where you exchange adresses and place trust in eachother. Well, the idea just popped in my mind…

You might remember my post on the “$50-dollar film camera project” from Epic Edits? Well, the list is published now and there were 80 cameras reviewed, amongst them my own review of the Yashica J-7.

It was a very inspiring challenge, I will keep doing similar reviews – I’ve already got more cameras to write about and also ideas on expanding the Yashica J-7 review with more photos testing all functions. Today a package arrived, with 5 rolls of Kodak TMax 100 ASA black and white-film ….

I bought a kit with Yashica J-7 SLR with the lens Yashinon-DX 50mm f1.7 for about $22 on Tradera (swedish version of ebay) :)

Well, I’ve shot a blck and white roll and a colour-film roll. Both were Kodak and 400 ASA.

By this time I was so excited that I bought the domain www.yashicaforum.com and wrote the review there! :) There are several large photos of the camera in the review, but I guess the first one is most representative:

$50 dollar film camera-project on Epic Edits

Brian Auer on Epic Edits has started a photo project, The <$50 Film Camera – read up on the rules on his blog an participate! The project is sponsored by ILFORD Photo and Lomography, and you can win nice prizes… and fame perhaps? ;)

These are the rules in short:

Get a film camera for at most $50
Shoot some film
Write a review
Publish a photo of the camera
Publich a roll of photos
Submit you link to Epic Edits

I will try to participate. Now I just need to choose which camera to use from my shelf! After all, most of them costs less then $50. I’m leaning towards a Yashica rangefinder or SLR, Zenit SLR or Minolta rangefinder.
