A day with Tele-Tokina 105mm/2.8

Just before the snowstorm we have here, I took a day with Tele-Tokina 105mm/2.8 (old, rare, dented lens I got for free when I bought a package). I hiked up near my home, to the lake. A short walk through the village and up the hillside. It is a neat, slender lens. Sometimes I have to struggle to make the best use of it. The dark time of year doesn’t make it easier. But sometimes I succeed… I think…

Leg of ice with Super-Takumar 105mm/2.8

Thinking of selling my Super-Takumar 105mm/2.8, but I wanted to give it some photography-time in the woods first and shot this leg of ice the other day. The changing weather between cold and “warm” (well, around 0°C is warm) make some nice iceformations.

Pentax Super-Takumar 105mm/2.8, bokeh and David Bowie…

Interesting bokeh of my Asahi Opt.Co. Super-Takumar 105mm/2.8 M42 on Canon EOS 350D:

I was listening on David Bowie singing “My Death” while editing this image, I thought the feeling was appropiate to this leaf that’s near death ;)

Review of Tele-Tokina 105mm/2.8 preset T2

When you deal with old lenses, you often get lenses and cameras you know nothing of, as a extra treat when you buying for something else. To be honest, often they are crap – but sometime you get real treasures. Lets find out which category this Tele-Tokina belongs to…

The purchase
I bought this lens in a package with Pentax Spotmatic camera, Asahi S-M-C 55mm/1.8 lens, Soligor 35mm/3.5 (old preset), flash, bag, pocket tripod and some other stuff – it all went for about £40. The things I was aiming for was the Pantax camera and lens. The package arrived, and believe me, it was felt like christmas to unpack this stuff ;)

The early Tokina that came with my Spotmatic

About a week ago I bought a Pentax Spotmatic with three lenses and lots of good accessorie. The Pentax S-M-C Takumar 55mm/1.8 that came along I new was gonna be good. But there were some surprises too, specially a Tele-Tokina 105mm/2.8, a preset adaptall lens. It really creates sharp, nice images. The only thing I’m unsure about is the colour saturation (colour pictures will be published later on).

Here is a B&W shot of my daughter learning to eat.
