Spring with Pentacon

The flowers are starting to grow, and I wanted to portrait the spring with Pentacon 50/1.8. This is the years first flowershot, a hepatica nobilis. Not to sharp, could be due to my bicycling 30km before shooting it ;)

Poor photographers weather protection

This weekend we had a snowstorm in Sweden, so I needed some poor photographers weather protection. So with a plastic bag and a rubber band wrapped around the lens I challenged the weather gods and took a photowalk with blowing winds and snow up to my waiste. The lens used was Yashica ML 50mm/2.

Newcomer – Praktica LTL with Pentacon 50mm/1.8

I got this from my wife, a Praktica LTL with the Pentacon 50mm/1.8 which she found in the fleemarket. Thanks, Sara :)

Unfortunately the filtererings on the lens was bad, dented. I fixed it by smashing a greenfilter and attached to the lens. Not great for collectors probably, but I like to use this m42 lens… with filters and hood :)

Magic with the Industar 50-2

This little thing Industar 50-2 can do margic. I’m sure. Miracles. Or maybe it just makes me relax when I photograph. Makes me more playful…

And it’s so small, this little russian Tessar-formula M42-lens. Here it is on the small film SLR Canon EOS 300V:

The mysterious dive

I was just wondering why my statistics dived. Now I discovered my htaccess-file was broken so no links on the site worked *doh*
Well, it’s fixed now anyways.

Review of Yashica ML 50mm/2

Introduction
As you might now I’m a fan of Yashica cameras and lenses (the reason I started YashicaForum.com offcourse). It all started out with a couple of old rangefinders and reading about the greatness of ML-series of lenses on forum.mflenses.com … at the time I think it was the ML 24mm that was being discussed. I decided to get an adapter for Contax/Yashica and try this manual lenses on my Canon DSLR.

The purchase
I got this lens from Richard for free – thanks :) I also bought one on swedish ebay Tradera, just because it was so cheap and I didn’t wan’t it to go unsold. They are easy to find, buy one if you can!

Cheap Yashica lens and it’s bokeh

The DSB range of the Yashica brand is not supposed to be that good. It was their lowcost alternative and single coated. But this Yashica DSB 50mm/1.9 has surprised me a lot. I love the ML 50mm/2, but it would be hard to compare these two. The DSB is a little bigger which makes it easier to handle the rings.

I will soon post some more on the yashicaforum.

First try with Yashica ML 50mm/f2

Uhh, this one feels sharp! Just took some snapshots yesterday, no masterpieces but interesting to see the characteristics of this lens. Will have to compare with my other 50mm lenses later on.

Yashinon DX 50mm f1.7 – interesting bokeh

Maybe not the best saturation (it was a gray day, though), but sharp and very interesting bokeh. Here at f2, if I remember it correct. Today my C/Y->EOS adapter arrived, so now I can try my ML-lenses and compare. I see a test of 50mm-lenses in the not to distant future :)
