All Pentax lenses

I got a newsletter from pentaxforum stating that they now have all pentax lenses ever produced in their database. You might want to check it out :) They are missing photos of a few, so maybe you can help them out.

Review of Yashica MC Zoom 35-70mm/3.5-4.5

This is a lens I bought on ebay after hearing good things about it, well at least the small amount of information I could find. The price was $22. I have discovered that Yashica zooms is very hard to find information about, specially now since earlier source of information cdegroot.com is gone. Well, here are my thoughts on this…

The lens
This is a slim little zoom. Filter threads are 52mm. The zoom is wide when you slide it out, tele when you slide it back – quite the opposit(?) to the normal, modern zooms which is tele when extended. The aperture range is from f 3.5 – f 22. My copy of the lens was in very, very good shape. In fact it feels new.

Do you need autofocus for moving objects

As you know I use manual focus, but do you need autofocus for moving objects? It’s an argument often raised by people when I write for exemple my article “5 resons to love manual lenses”. Well then, I guessmanual focusing is not a skill to learn, and I should really avoid photos like these since they are impossible to take with the lenses I use. Or…? ;)

Stuck on flowers

This time of year the flower is a motif easy to get stuck on. There are so many, so nice with bokeh. We miss them during the winter in Sweden. Then comes the autumn and a lot of images show autumn leafs ;) Well, here are some more flowers I portraied in the City park in Örebro. They are made with Helios 44-3 and S-M-C Takumar 55mm/1.8 lenses and Canon EOS 350D (and a M42->EOS adapter of course). Guess which is which?

Sold my S-M-C Takumar 300mm/f4

Yesterday I sold my Asahi Opt.Co. Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 300mm/f4. Needed the money and was my most valuable lens but the one I used the least. It was sold on swedish ebay “Tradera” for estimated $230.

Autumnleafs with Yashica DSB 50mm/1.9

Today my new manual lens Yashica DSB 50mm/1.9 arrived. Bought it very cheap on Tradera (swe ebay). It’s single-coated and seems sharper then I would have thought. This is a lens with Contax/Yashica mount. Here’s a photography of leafs on the ground, for more images look at my thread on YashicaForum.com. Review will come soon, maybe in comparison to Yashica ML 50mm/2.

Exercise: manual focus the fastest thing around

Why not try to catch a swallow with a 50mm lens? Good practice, don’t know how the image turned out though ;) Show me your’s! This is taken with Canon EOS 350D and Yashinon DX 50mm/1.7 (m42):

Bokeh – what is that?

Bokeh - If your starting out with photography and manual lenses, you will probably come a cross that word. The word comes from ”boke”, the Japanese word for blur. It is used to describe the part of a picture that are out of focus, and that the lens shows as blurred. Bokeh of lenses may have very different aesthetic qualities. This is most apperent in larger apertures, when part of the picture is a lot out of focus. Soft edges on the blurry reflexes are often considered preferable!

Yashicas – they are always beautiful

This is my new Yashica, I just have to show it of even if it’s just unpacked and not tested. The camera in it self might not be fantastic in it’s function but the lens is. And they always look soooo damn good! It was made in 1977, when I was 2 years old.
