Roses after repair of Helios 44-3

The focusring on my Helios 44-3 was loose, but is now repaired. Richard told me how to fix the problem, there are screws in the side of the ring but they are so small that I had missed them! Tightened and I took the lens to town with me… to the city park which is full with roses. Here are the result. I feel a bit new to the lens now since I haven’t used it in a while.

Portraits with russian lens Mir-1V

When I first tried the russian lens Mir-1V I got the feeling I wanted to use it for portraits. This christmas I took this nice image of my family in the hallway. Like the light. Of course it’s not planned, no poses just snapshot. But I love the warm feeling. Nice m42 wideangle from russia.

My daughter carried on my wifes back. She likes to look over the shoulder and look at the cars :) Made som photographs with Mir-1V on Canon EOS 350D. There was very much overcast light (swedish november), and hard to focus with that camera but I like this images as the show the spirit of the moment ;)

Mir-1V russian lens photographed on Zenit and Canon

I’ve been taking pictures of another lens Richard sent me, the Mir-1V 37mm/2.8. It is an M42 so I put it on the Zenit ET and then the Canon EOS 300V (SLR) with an adapter.

Review of MC Helios 44-3 58mm/f2

I suspect that many photographer wrinkles on the nose when I tell of my Helios-lens, manufactured in BeLOMO, Minsk in the early 80′s 90′s. Surely it can’t be any good?

The states of former Soviet union actually made a lot of good camera equipment, and what I’m going to write about now is a copy from a Carl Zeiss-factory that ended up in the Eastern block after the war and “moved” to russia. Helios is a Carl Zeiss Biotar-copy. Lets see how it handles…
